Lobster Baskets

Evidence of basket making has been identified in ancient cultures all over the world, some dating back almost 20,000 years. The methods of basketry in each region evolved in conjunction with the material available: palms in the tropics, grass in the savanna, and roots and stalks in cold temperate zones. In the Anthropocene, we have plastic waste.

 

These baskets were made from discarded lobster rope, after it was used in the Nest installation.
