Nest

Nest is an installation using discarded lobster rope sourced from the Deer Isle Transfer Station. It was installed during Courtney Puckett's 2019 fibers workshop at Haystack, "Embodied Line."

Nest is a playful take on providing a new utility to a discarded material. Viewers are invited to experience the space within Nest by sitting on lying on the bench, deforming the shape by pulling on handles, or generally exploring.

Since de-installing this piece, Katie has been reusing the rope again to make baskets and other vessels. You can find more information on the background and stages of this project here.
