The Umbrella Project

The Umbrella Project is an ongoing series of useful objects made from discarded umbrellas found in the streets of New York City. This project is about returning utility to that which has been discarded. Therefore, most of the projects are utility objects that take advantage of the strength and water resistance of the polyester fabric: aprons, bags, backpacks, etc. My projects also incorporate hardware from the umbrellas as buttons, fasteners, etc.

For more background on this project, see these posts on theWasteBasketBlog.com.

Beneath the Umbrella is an installation project that also uses discarded umbrella material.
